Road Tax Campaign

Some of you maybe thinking of buying a quad bike for the first time and there may be some of you that are already quad bke owners, either way you will know that road tax for Quad Bikes or Buggies is £66 for 6 months and £130 for the year, did I just hear you say; "How much......", yes I am afraid so, absolutely extortionate, money to fill our already rich MP's, and for what, another house may be, another gardner perhaps, or may be to pay off a mortgage that was already paid off, either way its a lot of money for something that produces very low CO2 emissions.

When I first found out about the amount of money that we pay for quad bikes I was extremely annoyed, so I wrote a letter to the Policy Department of DVLA, their response was that Quad Bikes and or Buggies do not fall into the category that requires them to be tested for their emissions, this is a complete joke because when these bikes are tested at an SVA Centre, (Single Vehicle Approval), which is something like an MoT and ensures their roadworthyness, part of the test is to test their emissions.  So from that my opinion is that they either fall into the category for testing their emissions or not, it was part of the SVA test afterall.

So, armed with this information I decided to contact my local MP, I told her the amount of Road Tax we pay for these vehicles, showed her the letter I wrote to DVLA and their response, (which I might add was contradicting), and she is more than happy to take this case on to get road tax for these vehicles either reduced dramtically or abolished, she is in total agreement with me that these figures are extortionate for these types of vehicles.

With the MP working for all of us I have taken extra steps and created a petition on Downing Street's website, it would therefore be appreciated that by clicking on the link below and signing the petition we can get Road Tax for these vehicles abolished or reduced, the more signatures we have the better it will be.

Although I created an e-petition on the "Number 10" website, this has now terminated due to the new coalition government that we have, this is a bit of a shame but I have taken big steps to ensure that our message to brought to the attention of those that could make a difference, so please hang in there and we will be producing a newsletter updating you on events.
